At Self + Reflection, we work with a free contribution system to ensure that participation is accessible to everyone, regardless of financial situation. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to share their unique story and celebrate their beauty.
All contributions are fully reinvested into the project, allowing us to expand our reach and inspire and support even more women.
By participating, you’re not only contributing to your own story, but also helping the project grow and reach others. Together, we are building a powerful community of self-acceptance and body positivity.
You’re in control of your images
At Self + Reflection, your comfort and privacy are always our top priority. We understand how important it is for you to have full control over how you are represented. That’s why only images for which you have given explicit permission will be used. You decide which photos are shared, where they are published, and how your story is told.
As a participant, you always have the final say. This means you have not only a say in the selection of the images but also in how your personal story is presented. Your consent is essential, and without it, no images or stories will be shared.
The process
The Photo Session You begin with a personal photoshoot, where you have complete control over how you are presented. We use natural light and minimal editing to let your true beauty shine. During the session, we work together to bring your story to life through images.
Image Selection: After the photoshoot, you collaborate with the photographer to select the images that best tell your story. This is a participatory process where your voice and choices are central.
Share Your Story: Alongside the images, you have the opportunity to share your personal story. This could be a short text about your journey to self-acceptance, your thoughts on beauty, or anything else you wish to share.
Presentation: The selected images and stories are presented in an exhibition, a book publication, and/or on a digital platform. This gives you the opportunity to share your story with a wide audience and inspire others.

Danny Van der Elst is the photographer and creative force behind Self + Reflection. With over 15 years of experience in photography, Danny has built an impressive portfolio, with his work exhibited both nationally and internationally. His passion lies in capturing the authentic beauty and emotion in each individual, with a special focus on telling personal stories through his lens.
Professionalism and Trust
His work has been recognized worldwide, with recent exhibitions in Barcelona and Knokke. Additionally, he is the proud recipient of the QEP (Qualified European Photographer) award, a quality mark from the European association of professional photographers.
